Boston Harbor Bluefishin'

Sorry I haven't been on in a bit. Haven't been fishing much, but have been catching here and there. The freshwater bite has slowed down a bit so I switched over to saltwater gears...

Caught a few blues last night, phone died so I couldn't take pics of all of them. Fished from 10PM until around 4AM this morning. Lost an enormous bluefish (I think! Maybe it was a shark!) that ripped my steel leader to bits!

Was using very, very fresh mackerel that was acquired for me by a friend. The other guys using baitshop bought frozen macks didn't get bit by anything but rock crabs!

  • Awesome trip, I had my line cut while fishing for stripers near the summer street bridge last night too. Guess I know why!

  • I went to UMASS Boston in the early 90s, and I used to walk out there and see people fishing all the time. There was always a bloody mess where they were cutting up bait.

  • Headed down as I type this. God bless texting and driving.

  • what if you float the mackeral with a bobber, would that work for the crab situation?

Too funny, I went to Umass boston for 4yrs and never once thought to wet a line there :(
