Lake Rico, MA Fishing Report

Lake Rico May 23, 2010

I got to the lake about 10am or so... tried a spinnerbait and a Senko in the cove near the dam area - got no hits, saw lots of bluegills in the bedding areas. Went to another section of the park(Massasoit State Park) and fished where I caught 7 fish last time... and got not ONE single bite! I moved to another adjacent area and caught 1 chain pickerel and one largemouth bass, both on a Mann's Shadow soft plastic jerkbait('nightglow' color - yes, aim your flashlight at it for a minute & it actually glows in the dark!). I got a few more hits, but didn't manage to hook em. I switched to a Snag Proof frog and fished a small lily pad field nearby - got at least 4 or 5 topwater hits, but missed all but 1 - I hooked a bass, but he got off after a short battle. GRRRR! Not a bad day for only 2 hours of fishing, but I wish I landed as many as actually hit...
